Tin Fish

Ate at the Tin Fish in Port St. Lucie today.  I had some grilled oysters and they were good.   http://www.thetinfishrestaurants.com/locations-menus/

Today we swam with manatees, but it will be a while before I get that written up for the Florida blog. It was amazing.  A cold snap brought them up and we went out on Crystal River up into the Springs.  They were everywhere. The swimming was easy.  In most places we could walk and the manatees would brush up against us in the shallow water.  At one point a mother and young baby came right to my snorkeled face.  Very close encounter.  Others would brush against us as we stood in the shallow water.  We did see some in deep water, but I never saw so many while in shallow water. The pontoon was cheaper than renting on the Homosassa River  and the traveling was about the same.  We could have seen manatees right near the launching dock. The folks treated us very well, much better than that arrogant guy who bought the marina where we used to rent on the Homosassa. We were incredibly lucky.  It is rare that it gets this cold in March.  Usually, our March visitors have missed them

AIR BOAT YESTERDAY /TODAY LAST VISIT TO PARK THIS SEASON

Image
I skipped the airboat ride yesterday, but the others had a great ride. I stayed back and read my mystery on a picnic table.  I'm not so much for airboats, and I did not want my eye exposed to water and wind. I was attacked by caterpillars and had to move to another picnic table.  I don't know what they like about me. They had a 1000 lbs alligator there in a pen.  Pretty cool looking. Cory and Katie had their photo taken holding a smaller alligator. Today, we took Cory and Katie to the Homosassa Wildlife Park today for our last visit of the season.  He had just four more tickets on our punchcard. It was amazing, really.  Wild manatee were everywhere and we had great viewing.  I have not seen them in the pond area this year..  We could even see them up close through the glass in the underwater aquarium.  Below is a snook.  The fish were more plentiful as well.  There were jack crevaille, snappers, and sheepshead. Then all a

BROOKSVILLE ART SHOW AND CHILI

While Elizabeth had an appointment, I had a nice meal here; I went to Natalia's   http://www.nataliaspizza.com/ where there is a lot of food other than pasta and pizza.  I ate some oxtail with yucca and a salad and washed it down with a double expresso. Susan took us on a tour of the art displayed in the City Hall, including her own framed poem in the poetry section.  It was a mixed showing, with some things incredibly stunning and others rather poor.  We had a great time. Here is Susan with her framed poem.  It was not a poem I could understand because I lack all the background in the work and thinking of the famous psychologists mentioned, but Elizabeth could follow each nuance.  A fine poem with meanings well below the surface. Here is a sample of what I liked: This woman worked in what is called acrylics and used a technique of putting the color over an oil that spread it around and shaped it.  I don't much like abstract, but I like this.
