ST PETERSBURG WITH FRIENDS

Elizabeth and I arrived in St. Pete's at our 3 night rental. Cute place. All themed with a Key West theme. Our place is in the Conch Key section and out room is the Hemingway celebrating the author and his cats. Three grand Hemingway books have been left out, so I'll have plenty of reading. None of the three is familiar to me. I ended up buying the Mary Dearborn biography on line from Amazon.

The rooms are small, but perfectly neat and clean and just what we needed for a short stay.
There were two and a third flights of stairs to come up, so the carrying of luggage was a bit of a chore, but my latest PT work along with daily excercises has improved my lower body strength and I did not find them difficult at all.
Also the stairs were only half steps and each step gave full foot access to the 2 by 6. Good railings too with little spires to hold on to at the corners.
Rainy day the first day. And cool. It was cool the entire trip. No beach swimming this year.
I'm drinking an Athletic Lite NA beer and chillin' in this grand rocking chair.
Our friends Peter and Donna from up North stay every year in St Pete's and we hang out with them for a couple days.

The highlight of the trip was our visit to the Imagine Museum where there were displayed art made with blown glass.

These glass kimonos were very impressive.

I lied the cranes above the door, but I can't seem to edit out the door.

Always some fish.

We visited the Boyd Preserve and saw about 8 wounded raptors. Most had broken wings, but one named Edge had lost an eye in a car accident. He was able to fly, but he could not feed in the wild as he lost depth perception. I was sympathetic to the old boy.
I did not walk the trail, but Elizabeth and Donna did and saw many little alligators in a pond,

This was a red shouldered hawk with a cinnamon color. It was my favorite.

Our last day was a tour of Jungle Prada Park where Indian mounds (probably garbage areas) were explored in a fine little area of woods. Peacocks roamed around. We were right on the Gulf and I watched a pelican feeding on fish in the water.
The guide was particularly interested and knowledable. His specalty was plants. He showed us a bush the Indians used for tea. They sold their version in the store. However, if the bush was not prepared carefully, it would be poisonous.
We saw a wild flower I liked, but have lost the name. It had little umbrellas of flower and color. It is not rare in Florida and treated often as a weed.
He told us about Anderson-Narváez an early explorer looking for gold.
The natives said there was gold but much farther North and so got him to leave. He took 300 men with him, but only 3 survived the journey North using rafts they built.
The current land that encompases the Jungle Prada Park was bought by his grandfather many years ago and the business there is a family business.

RESTAURANTS RESTAURANTS

We had three fine meals. One was at my favorite spot,
Here we at tapas much like those I got years ago in Spain. Very tasty.
Here at the 4th street Shrimp joint, I had some good fried oysters. They cooked them keeping the oyster intact and not all dried up.

We had grand food at Sea Salt restaurant. Everything tasted great! The hit was the truffle sauced french fries we all shared. I had a fine red fish with a delicious sauce full of ripe, sweet tomatos. They also had NA Stella beer and it was great.

We also took this tour

We are home and resting. It was a great trip.
